The 2024 Trafalgar Oaks Olympics!

Last month, our preschoolers excitedly shared their weekend adventures watching the Olympics, with many proudly noting that Canada had won medals. This interest sparked our Preschool 3 teachers to create our own Trafalgar Oaks version of the Summer Olympics. We updated our medal count throughout the olympics and learned about various sports, including fencing.

To kick off our Preschool 3 Summer Olympics, we held an opening ceremony where the Olympic flame was passed from one student to another, symbolizing the transition in our class. Our three departing friends handed the flame to the four new classmates joining us that week. Together, they lit the Olympic torch, which burned throughout the games. The preschoolers then took their turns attempting some “Olympic sports” and had so much fun!

We celebrated with Olympic-themed cupcakes, painted plates inspired by the Olympic rings, and created sports-themed art. Later, we relaxed with a PJ Movie Day, watching "Paw Patrol in Sports Day" and enjoying snacks themed around the Olympic Rings.

Our Olympic art activities included designing individual name medals and making confetti with Olympic ring-colored papers, adding a festive touch to our events.

During our closing ceremony, we turned off the torch, celebrated Team Canada’s 27 medals, and learned about the Olympic Movement's goal of promoting peace, friendship, and fair play. The celebration ended with special snacks, including Olympic ring fruits, Gold Oreos, and s'mores, with the kids assembling treats under the teacher’s supervision. Preschool 3 had so much fun celebrating the athleticism of people from all around the world and learning more about sports, countries around the world, and enjoy fun activities and yummy treats!
